Compatibility guide
Pixel Tag compatible phones
Compatibility is not a single yes-or-no label. Here is what each hardware tier enables.
| Phone group | Basic finding | UWB | Channel Sounding |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pixel 11 Pro / 10 Pro | Yes | Verified | Verified on supported Android 16 hardware |
| Pixel 11 / 10 | Yes | No verified UWB | Verified on supported Android 16 hardware |
| Pixel 9 Pro / 8 Pro / 7 Pro | Yes | Verified | Not verified |
| Recent Galaxy Ultra / Fold | Yes through Find Hub products | Hardware present; confirm tracker support | Not verified |
| Unlisted Android phone | Android 9+ baseline | Not assumed | Not assumed |
Basic finding covers the broadest group
Google documents Android 9 or later as the baseline for Find Hub tracker support. The phone also needs Bluetooth, location services, internet connectivity and an eligible Google account.
That baseline applies to map location, ringing and crowd-network reports. It does not prove UWB direction or Channel Sounding.
UWB depends on exact hardware
Android's UWB API requires Android 12 or later. A phone must also expose the UWB hardware, and availability can vary by model and region.
Pro and Ultra names are useful clues, not proof. The checker uses explicit model records and leaves unverified phones at Bluetooth-level precision.
Bluetooth Channel Sounding is not generic Bluetooth 6
Channel Sounding needs Android 16, Bluetooth 6-capable hardware and manufacturer support for the feature. A Bluetooth version number alone cannot establish the result.
The website therefore marks only the models supported by the current evidence set. This list should expand only when a manufacturer or platform source confirms another phone.
Why software choices are restricted
The checker offers only software versions that the selected phone could reasonably run. It no longer allows combinations such as a newly released phone on Android 9, because such combinations create technically neat but practically false answers.
Patch versions are preserved where they matter. AirTag 2, for example, needs iOS 26.2.1 rather than the less precise 26.2 label.
If your phone is not listed
Choose the unlisted Android path and select the installed Android version. The tool will check basic software compatibility but will not promise UWB or Channel Sounding.
Send the exact model number through the contact page if you want it added. Regional model numbers are more useful than a marketing family name.
Questions people ask before buying
Will Pixel Tag work with Samsung phones?
Basic Google Find Hub support can work on Android 9+ Samsung phones. Advanced precision still depends on the exact phone hardware and software.
Does Pixel 10 have UWB?
Google's regulatory documentation identifies UWB for Pixel 10 Pro models. The base Pixel 10 is not marked as UWB-capable in this checker.
Why is an unlisted phone treated conservatively?
Regional hardware variants and software support can differ. A conservative result prevents a purchase based on an unverified feature.
